I am a public school teacher. I have 3 Master’s degrees and no student loan debt. My parents paid for all of my education.
My wife is also a public school teacher: she has a Master’s degree … and more than $80,000 in student loan debt.
We are the 1%, and we are the 99%. We are parents of two young girls: let’s make fairness, justice, and equality affordable for all.

And I am one of the lucky ones - I have loved ones in the position of helping me. So many do not.

My dad is unemployed due to disabilities obtained on the job. He’s in need of health insurance but is NOT ELIGIBLE for Medicare because he could be covered on my mom’s health insurance.
The problem is, if she adds him, she would OWE her job $$ each month and have no take home income. The sole income upon which they rely.
After 25+ years of happy marriage, my parents are considering DIVORCE just so he can be eligible for Medicare.
WE are the 99%.
This happens a lot—and is a real tragedy. Many people either divorce or decide not to marry because of how it would affect health insurance.

My dad subjects himself to harmful chemicals 50+ hours a week so I can go to college and I don’t even know if I’ll have a job when I graduate.
We are the 99%.
